Donovan Mitchell is one of the best college basketball players in the country and he just so happens to be from an HBCU. Mitchell, who goes to school at Louisville, is from Elmsford, New York and played his high school basketball at Brewster Academy.
Mitchell is a 6-foot-3 guard that can really score the basketball. He averaged 15.6 points per game as a sophomore and shot almost 40 percent from three-point range. Mitchell is also a very good defender and was named the AAC Defensive Player of the Year last season.
The junior guard has decided to declare for the NBA Draft and he is projected to be a first round pick. It would be great to see him get drafted by an NBA team and then come back and play in the NCAA tournament with Louisville.
However, before he does that, Donovan Mitchell has one more thing that he wants to do and that wins an HBCU National Championship.
That's right, Donovan Mitchell wants to win an HBCU National Championship before he leaves Louisville for the NBA. He has already helped Louisville win an AAC regular season title and an AAC tournament title, but now he wants to win a championship that has eluded him so far in his collegiate career.
It won't be easy, but if anyone can do it, Donovan Mitchell can.
